LEGO Star Wars 75192 Millennium Falcon turns five years old today

Today marks exactly five years since 75192 Millennium Falcon first launched for VIP members, and we’re celebrating with a week of content around the biggest LEGO Star Wars set to date.

Can you believe it’s been five whole years since the second Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon flew on to store shelves? Originally available on September 14, 2017 for VIP members (ahead of a wider release on October 1), the 7,541-piece model smashed all sorts of records upon release, redefining how big – and how expensive – a LEGO set could be.

Since then, 75192 Millennium Falcon has effectively opened the doors to not only bigger and more expensive sets, but the LEGO Group’s entire notion of ‘adults welcome’. We’ll be digging deeper into the Falcon’s legacy over the coming days, along with the best ways to display it, how you can improve on it, and whether it really is still the ultimate LEGO Star Wars set, five years on.

Keep an eye on the home page, our dedicated tab or even our Millennium Falcon hub over the next few days to check out all our celebrations of the enormous freighter, which to this day remains the biggest LEGO Star Wars set of all time by piece count. It’s since been joined by 75313 AT-AT as the most expensive, however, with both sets now retailing for £734.99 / $849.99 / €849.99 (following recent price increases).

In fact, 75192 Millennium Falcon is now a full £85 more expensive in the UK than it was on release, jumping first from £649.99 to £699.99 in January 2022, then again to £734.99 in September 2022. But according to the Office for National Statistics, £650 in 2017 is equivalent to roughly £760 today (post-inflation), so the increases could technically have been worse.

If you’re yet to pick up 75192 Millennium Falcon – which still sits high in Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO Sets List – it’s available now at LEGO.com. And if you do already own it, let us know your fondest memories of the set in the comments below. We still remember heading down to our local LEGO Store on September 14, five minutes after opening, to find it was already sold out…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
