Getting LEGO Star Wars Captain Rex minifigure might be a lot easier soon
Rumours for the year ahead in LEGO Star Wars suggest that it will soon be much easier – and cheaper – to get the latest Captain Rex minifigure.
The release of 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser didn’t just revisit an iconic Clone Wars-era ship; it also revisited the popular character of Captain Rex for the first time since 2013. Rumours have been flying for months that the Clone Captain would make a return in 2024 and we might now know where to look out for him. According to recent rumours reported by Instagram user 1414falconfan, June could see the launch of 75391 Captain Rex Y-wing Microfighter, priced at just $12.99 for 99 pieces.
That is obviously a much more affordable option than the eye-watering price of 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser, retailing at £559.99 / $649.99 / €649.99, and still cheaper than buying the minifigure on its own on the secondhand market, generally going for around £82 / $104 on Bricklink.
However, that’s not to say that the Captain Rex minifigure will be quite as detailed as the one we got in LEGO Star Wars UCS 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser. After all, the instruction manual for the model specifically stated that both Captain Rex and Admiral Yularen would be exclusive minifigures. With 75391 Captain Rex Y-wing Microfighter believed to be coming out in June of this year, that’s well under a year after the release of 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser – not a long time for those minifigures to have enjoyed exclusivity.
It may be that the Captain Rex minifigure design that could be released in the rumoured 75391 Captain Rex Y-wing Microfighter will contain less detail, perhaps without arm printing or some other feature to still mark the UCS minifigure out as special. Nonetheless, even a slight drop in detail would likely be welcomed by those not wanting to break the bank on a minifigure.
Of course, all of this is pure speculation for now. We’ll have to wait and see if and when another Captain Rex minifigure is on the way via official reveals from the LEGO Group. For now, here’s a reminder of every LEGO Star Wars set confirmed and rumours for the rest of the year.
