LEGO Star Wars Christmas TIE Fighter rumoured to take different shape

Initial rumours for a LEGO Star Wars Christmas TIE Fighter set have changed, and it’s claimed that a different Empire vehicle is coming.

Instagram user a.clay.brick has shared that word of 40806 Christmas TIE Fighter isn’t as accurate as they expected, and instead that the reported seasonal Star Wars sets for 2025 will be an entirely different Empire vehicle.

It’s now rumoured that 40806 Holiday AT-AT is this year’s festive LEGO Star Wars set, still said to feature 697 pieces for the updated cost of $79.99, one minifigure and be released on October 1, 2025. A seasonal AT-AT model could take many forms, such as a gingerbread recreation as mattqw on Reddit shared earlier this year.

Notably, the last seasonal LEGO Star Wars vehicle model is an employee gift – 4002019 Christmas X-wing – which depicted an X-Wing Starfighter based on the colour scheme of candy canes. Whether this sweet concept will become something of a tradition in LEGO Star Wars with a second set is unknown.

For those mourning the loss of the rumoured LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter set, there’s good news. It’s also reported by the Instagram user that the exclusive gift-with-purchase for the rumoured 75419 UCS Death Star will be 40771 TIE Fighter.

Rumour has it that 40771 TIE Fighter will have 236 pieces, three minifigures and launch on October 1, 2025. That’s the same rumoured release date as the UCS Death Star, which would make sense.

The closest a TIE Fighter has been to 236 pieces is 2001’s 7146 TIE Fighter, but as LEGO Star Wars sets have come a long way since then, something smaller in scale is more likely for this rumoured model.

Here’s what’s currently rumoured for LEGO Star Wars this year, but remember to take absolutely everything that isn’t officially confirmed with suitable caution in case any details are inaccurate – this rumour changing from a TIE Fighter to an AT-AT is a good reminder of why such methods are effective at keeping expectations in check.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
