LEGO Star Wars Death Star: who needs a Christmas tree?

One LEGO fan is posing the question we all need to be asking at this time of year – who needs a Christmas tree when you have 75419 Death Star?

The release of 75419 Death Star and the festive time of year have inspired theastralj on Reddit to redecorate their copy of the most expensive LEGO Star Wars model ever made, significantly changing the appearance of the space station slice, while showcasing their formidable budget.

They’ve taken the 9,000-piece model and swapped out much of the interior to add a touch of Christmas to 75419 Death Star, adding in everything from Christmas trees to reindeer around the model’s rooms. 40499 Santa’s Sleigh is posted next to the shuttle in place of the GWP TIE Fighter, and parts of 40573 Christmas Tree are scattered around the set to add some eye-catching Christmas decor.

Aside from these two Christmas sets, we can see parts of various LEGO advent calendars, including several torsos found in Star Wars entries from across the years. With these, 75419 Death Star and the lights hooked up to the multi-level model, it’s clear that this LEGO enthusiast has a significant budget for their Christmas decorations.

After spending £899.99 / $999.99 / €999.99, it’s not hard to see why theastralj would want to give themselves another reason to keep 75419 Death Star on display year-round. To be fair, they certainly don’t need a Christmas tree when they have this modified LEGO Death Star.

Comments on the Reddit post are understandably astounded by theastralj‘s amazing efforts, and while it’s not something that many will be able to afford to replicate, it demonstrates the versatility of 75419 Death Star. The LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series set is available now for £899.99 / $999.99 / €999.99, and our review is available to read here. For a more traditional LEGO Christmas tree, we’ve reviewed another recent release here.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
