LEGO Star Wars: Skeleton Crew set goes the way of the Razor Crest

The first and only LEGO Skeleton Crew set has gone the way of 75331 The Razor Crest – being inaccurate to its final appearance in a specific way.

With Skeleton Crew nearing its end, more context for LEGO Star Wars 75374 The Onyx Cinder has been revealed, offering an interesting comparison to another Star Wars model based on a streaming series. Note that this article will feature spoilers for episodes six and seven of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The last few episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew have revealed an interesting feature of the Onyx Cinder that links to its true origins. As well as being a pirate vessel, the ship is a stolen At Attin ship, with access to the hidden planet. It turns out that the form we see in 75374 The Onyx Cinder is a disguise of sorts, adding extra engines to the ship and changing its appearance enough.

The true form of the Onyx Cinder is a sleeker ship with a pointed front and only the two sets of engines at the back of the ship, with the rest of the craft being part of a hull that can be removed from the ship in an emergency via an explosive but planned detonation.

REPUBLICBRICKS on Instagram has already managed to recreate this new version of the ship based on its updated appearance, visualising the differences compared to 75374 The Onyx Cinder.

Surprisingly, this makes 75374 The Onyx Cinder the second LEGO Star Wars based on a ship from a streaming series that exploded (but on purpose this time), following The Mandalorian’s Razor Crest. Unlike 75374 The Onyx Cinder, the Razor Crest has more than one model and the massive 75331 The Razor Crest was released after and designed during the ship’s on-screen explosion.

It’s an odd but interesting fact that links the two ships and their LEGO Star Wars sets and probably wasn’t planned by the LEGO Star Wars team. 75374 The Onyx Cinder is available now for £124.99 / $139.99 / €139.99 with 1,325 pieces and five exclusive minifigures.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
