LEGO Star Wars summer 2024 rumours – Thrawn, Dark Rey, Jedi Bob and more

The first rumours of this summer’s LEGO Star Wars sets are starting to surface online, and it sounds like the theme is heading off the rails in the best way in 2024.

Proving the LEGO Star Wars team still has the capacity to surprise, the first list of LEGO Star Wars summer 2024 sets runs the gamut from predictable Phantom Menace products (it is the 25th anniversary, after all) to a completely chaotic take on the Millennium Falcon. Nobody anywhere could have foreseen some of the gems supposedly coming our way in August.

This information is all according to Instagram users 1414falconfan and childish_landino_chronicles (the latter of whom has shared additional information in their Instagram story), who are two of the most reliable sources of rumours out there at the minute – so while a lot of it sounds too strange to be true, it’s not worth dismissing out of hand altogether.

But definitely still treat it all with the same amount of scepticism as any rumour: a lot could change between now and release, and nothing is official until confirmed by the LEGO Group. Dive into the details on all seven sets below…

75383 Sith Infiltrator

Price: $69.99 Pieces: TBC Release date: May 2024

The only one of these sets said to be on the way in the first half of 2024, 75383 Sith Infiltrator would be the LEGO Star Wars team’s first minifigure-scale take on Darth Maul’s Scimitar since 2015. That set – 75096 Sith Infiltrator – retailed for $89.99 for 662 pieces, and included minifigures of Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin and Watto. By contrast, this newer model is said to come in at $20 less, with Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, Padmé Amidala and Captain Panaka in the box. Expect a smaller ship as a result.

75385 Battle on Peridea

Price: $40-50 Pieces: 382 Release date: August 2024

75385 Battle on Peridea is shaping up to be the spoiler-filled Star Wars: Ahsoka set we’ve been waiting for since the Disney+ series finished airing in September last year. According to 1414falconfan, the 382-piece set will include minifigures of Ahsoka (in her white outfit), Ezra, Thrawn, Enoch and Morgan Elsbeth (who’s said to have a new face print). That’s a stacked cast for a set supposedly retailing for around $40 to $50. There’s no word on the build yet, though.

75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter

Price: $39.99 Pieces: 310 Release date: TBC

If last summer’s 75360 Yoda’s Jedi Starfighter felt like a left-field choice (in a sea of other potential Jedi Starfighters), just wait until 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter flies on to shelves later this year. If this rumour pans out as expected, the 310-piece model will include two minifigures: Jedi Bob with yellow skin, recreating the anonymous happy-go-lucky character from 2002’s 7163 Republic Gunship, and another mystery minifigure. Tin foil hats off, then…

75389 Dark Millennium Falcon

Price: $169.99 Pieces: TBC Release date: August 2024

A ‘what if’ Star Wars fever dream come to life, 75389 Dark Millennium Falcon sounds like the kind of creative nonsense the LEGO Star Wars team does best. The minifigure line-up for summer 2024’s flagship set reads thus: Dark Rey, Darth Vader in white armour, evil C-3PO, evil Chewbacca, a Gungan in a blue outfit (Darth Jar Jar?) and potentially one more mystery character. This is the one that sounds too weird to be true, but that probably means it is.

We could see it being hooked to a future Disney+ animated special, or maybe it’s just the weird and wonderful brainchild of someone in the LEGO Star Wars team who’s let their imagination run wild. Either way, we’re expecting an all-black take on the Millennium Falcon, perhaps with an ‘evil’ trans-red cockpit and engine tubing, but that’s only speculation at this stage.

75393 X-wing and TIE Fighter

Price: $109.99 Pieces: 1,058 Release date: TBC

No prizes for guessing 2024 would bring us a new LEGO Star Wars X-wing and TIE Fighter – both of the previous versions from 2021 retired at the end of last year, and the LEGO Star Wars team has consistently said that they should always be on shelves – but all the points if you somehow predicted they would come in the same set.

That’s not the most unique feature of 75393 X-wing and TIE Fighter, though: according to 1414falconfan, the set will apparently include the ability to swap the wings between the two vehicles.

That basically sounds like ‘what if Star Wars, but DREAMZzz’, or maybe a take on the community concept of ‘Ugly’ ships (which are basically that exact format, combining elements of two iconic ships in one). Either way, it’s said to include a TIE Pilot, X-wing Pilot, an astromech droid and two other currently-unknown minifigures.

75396 Escape from the Sarlacc

Price: $89.99 Pieces: 558 Release date: August 2024

If you value price-per-piece ratios in your LEGO sets, look away now: we could have another 76232 The Hoopty or 76281 X-Men X-Jet on our hands here. 75396 Escape from the Sarlacc will reportedly include a desert skiff and Sarlacc pit built from just 558 pieces, but will retail for an eye-watering $89.99. This sounds like a very similar approach to 2017’s 75174 Desert Skiff Escape, a set that retailed for a third of the price for 277 pieces.

Those extra elements could go into bringing us a second desert skiff, but the cost still sounds difficult to swallow. The minifigure line-up might go some way to saving it – Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando, Boba Fett and two more characters are thought to be included – but that Boba is apparently a repeat of the one in 75369 Boba Fett Mech, which is based on his appearance in The Empire Strikes Back rather than Return of the Jedi. Hmm.

75398 Buildable C-3PO

Price: $149.99 Pieces: 1,132 Release date: August 2024

Perhaps the only surprising thing about 75398 Buildable C-3PO is that it’s taken the LEGO Group this long to put it out. We’ve had two large-scale R2-D2s already, after all, with a third (slightly smaller) version said to be on the way in May, and even a giant Wookiee in 75371 Chewbacca. The question hanging over Threepio is whether the LEGO Group will commit to as many drum-lacquered gold pieces as would be required to do him justice, or whether we’re looking at a mix of shiny elements and dark tan like 76191 Infinity Gauntlet.

Instagram user childish_landino_chronicles claims this one will come with 1,132 parts, so the price-per-piece ratio suggests we could be looking at a few glitzy elements. The one other detail we have for 75398 Buildable C-3PO is that it will apparently include a C-3PO minifigure we’ve seen before. Just don’t hold your breath for the uber-detailed version from 75341 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
