LEGO stores coming to Southampton, Birmingham

The LEGO Group has announced that two new LEGO stores will be opening in the UK before Christmas, in Birmingham and Southampton.

The 14 LEGO stores currently open in the UK are set to be joined by two more before 2019 is through.

In Southampton, a store is due to be opened in the West Quay shopping centre, whilst in Birmingham there will be a store in the Bull Ring, marking a return for the LEGO Group to the Midlands city around a decade after the previous store there closed.

Both stores will carry the full range of products, experiences and build events that appear in the other LEGO stores across the country.

“Builders of all ages can visit and be inspired by the endless play opportunities inside our new LEGO stores in Birmingham and Southampton,” says Alison Wood, LEGO Stores UK Senior Manager.

“Whether you’re one or 100 there is something for you to get excited about.”

The opening of the Southampton store is excellent news for those of us based on the south coast – Brick Fanatics’ headquarters are just a few miles down the road. Yes, that means we are neighbours with Brickset!

Birmingham’s upcoming LEGO store may be situated the largest city-based shopping centre in the UK, but it will be the Southampton store where you’ll most likely catch Huw and myself hanging around more often than we should.

Both stores will have a Pick and Build (better known as Pick-A-Brick) wall included – if you have ever wondered how they select the bricks that are included in that wall, then pick up Issue 8 of Brick Fanatics Magazine, as LEGO insider Kevin Hinkle reveals all in his latest column.
