LEGO teases new Disney minifigures for 100th anniversary

The LEGO Group has teased new Disney minifigures coming later this year to celebrate the House of Mouse’s 100th anniversary.

We already know that LEGO will be one of the brands climbing aboard the Disney 100th anniversary train, courtesy of 40622 Disney 100th Celebration. The four-pack of Disney BrickHeadz characters, including Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mickey Mouse, Snow White and Tinker Bell, will land on shelves on February 1, 2023. It’s not the only product in the works, though.

Thanks to a teaser poster supplied by the LEGO Group, we know that at least one Disney minifigure will be on the way later in 2023. The poster features a light nougat arm that’s wielding a magic wand, and is therefore likely to belong to Tinker Bell – a character we haven’t seen in minifigure form since 2016’s 71040 The Disney Castle, a set that finally retired at the end of 2022.

The regular line-up of LEGO Disney sets is anchored around mini-dolls, so new minifigures is the exception to the rule – and may hint at the rumoured 71038 Disney 100th Anniversary Collectible Minifigures series, which is said to be on the way in May 2023. Tinker Bell could just as easily be making an appearance in 43225 Castle, however, which may or may not be a follow-up to 71040 The Disney Castle (if it exists at all).

“Since we launched our first LEGO DUPLO Winnie the Pooh range in 1999, LEGO Disney has inspired joyful play for Disney and LEGO fans of all ages,” said Casper Rafn Voigt, Head of Product for LEGO Disney at the LEGO Group. “From voyages across high seas and valiant quests, to the mesmerizing magic of Disney Princess castles, LEGO Disney has enchanted families around the world by bringing fantasy to life and inspiring new adventures using the LEGO brick.

“We’re honoured to be collaborating with Disney to celebrate this momentous occasion as we continue to create magic and unforgettable storytelling experiences together.”

We don’t yet have official confirmation of any specific LEGO Disney 100th anniversary products beyond 40622 Disney 100th Celebration, and now the existence of at least one new minifigure, but keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for more in the days, weeks and months to come.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
