LEGO Technic, Ideas and STEM all involved in new event

Combining the worlds of LEGO Ideas, Technic and STEM learning might seem daunting, but a new event on the platform is aiming to do just that.

As part of the latest LEGO Ideas activity, users are being asked to take off their coats after the last rain-themed challenge and get creative with their Technic and motorised elements and make a model to move around the home.

Citing STEM as a possible source of inspiration for entrants on the activity webpage, LEGO Ideas has opened the digital doors for another themed event. As is usually the case with the weekly challenges, there is no prize on offer for the best entry and this is just a chance to showcase your skills to the world.

Anyone wanting to enter the activity is asked to use Technic pieces to build a creation with some kind of moving element. Once you’ve got your build together, simply record a short video showcasing it and upload it to the platform.

A selection of the LEGO Group’s STEM-related sets might serve as more inspiration for the activity such as MINDSTORMS 51515 Robot Inventor, which itself includes a selection of programmable elements that you can use.

This activity will remain open until September 28, leaving plenty of time to begin brainstorming your creation. Alternatively, for something a little more involved LEGO Ideas also has an open contest to celebrate the 20th anniversary of LEGO Harry Potter with a free 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition up for grabs.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
