LEGO Technic Lunar Outpost set rumoured for 2025
It sounds like the LEGO Group isn’t quite ready to return from the cosmos just yet, with another new LEGO Technic space set now rumoured for later this year.
If 2024 was the year of LEGO space, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of ‘a few extra space bits we couldn’t quite fit into last year’. LEGO City has already debuted the excellent 60446 Galactic Spaceship, and LEGO Technic is now said to be getting in on the game with another space-themed set this summer. Instagram user lego_minecraft_goat reports that at least part of 42211’s set name will be ‘Lunar Outpost Moon’.
That model is currently rumoured to drop this summer for $99.99, but at this stage we don’t really know anything else about it. ‘Lunar Outpost Moon’ is apparently the beginning of the set name, so the rest of it could really be anything – but this is Technic we’re talking about, which means some kind of rover would be a safe bet. The key will probably be in whether ‘Lunar Outpost’ is a generic term or a brand name.
The specific company Lunar Outpost is a private space firm headquartered in Colorado, and is best known for its Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform (MAPP) rover. 42211 could well be a LEGO version of any of the three MAPP rovers currently conceived: the standard MAPP, the MAPP-Ultra or the much denser HL-MAPP. If ‘Lunar Outpost’ is being used as a generic term, though, the door is wide open to pretty much anything: a rover, a lunar terrain vehicle, a satellite, and so on.
