Every LEGO Technic set retiring in 2023 and beyond – June update
The LEGO Group has brought forward the retirement date of one of its Technic sets from December to July 2023, while pushing another back to 2024.
42129 4×4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck was originally slated to leave production by the end of this year, but it looks like the 2021 set will now depart shelves even sooner than expected. According to Brick Fanatics’ sources, the truck will retire by July 31, 2023 – which means you’ve got just over six weeks to grab yours before it’s gone for good.
Still, it’s worth bearing in mind that these dates aren’t set in stone. More likely the LEGO Group will continue to sell 42129 4×4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck until it’s shifted all its surplus stock – that could be into August or September, or it could be ahead of its anticipated retirement date. The good news is that you can currently grab the 2,129-piece set for 10% off at LEGO.com in the UK and Europe.
At the other end of the spectrum, 42138 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will now retire by the end of 2024 – a full year later than initially planned. Eleven of the current portfolio of LEGO Technic sets will remain on shelves into 2025 and beyond, meanwhile, with all three of this summer’s models due to stay in production until the end of 2026.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
