LEGO Wicked officially joins a limited list of themes
LEGO Wicked officially receives its minifigures later this year, bringing it into a limited collection of themes to explore both kinds of LEGO figures.
The release of 75691 Glinda & Elphaba Bookends on September 1 will mark the debut of the first and so far only LEGO Wicked minifigures. After a year of the theme using mini-dolls to recreate moments from the musical, 75691 Glinda & Elphaba Bookends targets an older audience and was seen fit to finally bring us six LEGO Wicked minifigures, five of which have mini-dolls to match.

75691 Glinda & Elphaba Bookends includes minifigures of Glinda, Elphaba The Wizard, Madame Morrible, Fiyero and Pfannee and all but Pfannee have a matching mini-doll (though Madame Morrible’s has a different outfit).

Such an occurrence is rare in the world of LEGO, and Disney is the only other theme to explore both minifigures and mini-dolls with the same characters, mostly thanks to Collectible Minifigures series. Friends, Wednesday, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Elves and The LEGO Movie 2 all feature mini-dolls, but don’t have minifigures of the same characters.
Now that Wicked has joined the club of themes to depict characters as both minifigures and mini-dolls, it will be interesting to see if any other current ranges follow suit, though none are currently confirmed to.
In the meantime, we can look forward to the launch of 75691 Glinda & Elphaba Bookends on September 1 for £109.99 / $129.99 / €119.99 and pre-orders for the set are open right now.

Mini Figs need to look a little more Gaunt and Ozempicesk to truly represent the ghouls that are in the movie. Nice that they are using Minifigures instead of Dolls.
