Leicester Square flagship LEGO store temporarily closes

Those in London this summer will be unable to visit the Leicester Square LEGO store as the refurbishment means it has been temporarily closed.

As we mentioned in our initial report, the continuing refurbishment of the Leicester Square LEGO store means that the shop has now been temporarily closed in full. The listing for the shop on the official online store has been updated to reflect this, revealing that it will be re-opening in August 2022.

Previously, part of the store remained open to customers while work was carried out in other areas. However, the nature of these changes means that the shop will now be inaccessible to guests until it re-opens later this year.

The refurbishment will be bringing the store up to date with the ‘retailtainment’ design that has already been implemented into the flagship locations in New York and Barcelona, as well as exclusive models inspired by British culture and entertainment. Further details have not been released on what these might include, so we’ll have to see what builds are featured in the store when it opens again.

The re-opening timeframe of August 2022 might mean that some of the recently revealed LEGO sets could be available in the Leicester Square store, including 40574 LEGO Brand Store with an interior reflecting the updated design of LEGO retail locations.
