Star Wars: The Mandalorian is more popular than any Marvel Disney+ show

According to a new report, both seasons of Star Wars: The Mandalorian are more popular than any Marvel series on Disney+ released so far.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that The Mandalorian’s first and second instalments have been more popular than any of the Marvel Studios series released on Disney+ so far, offering an indication of why the show has received multiple LEGO sets, instead of the one Collectible Minifigure Series of the other.

For those who need a reminder, The Mandalorian has received 17 LEGO Star Wars sets and a host of accessories and other brick-based merchandise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first season of the series has been watched over 5.42 billion times and the second season has 8.38 billion views, with over half of the watching time from the second instalment coming from eight weeks.

It’s safe to say that the adventures of Din Djarin have been popular, as evidenced by the reported viewings and the number of LEGO sets. In comparison, the most-watched Marvel Series according to The Hollywood Reporter is Loki at 5.23 billion watches. Each of the Marvel shows weighs in under the first season of The Mandalorian, and What If… doesn’t even make the list (considering that this is only the top reported show by viewings).

With that in mind, the report might offer an explanation as to why The Mandalorian has received so many LEGO Star Wars sets compared to just 71031 Marvel Studios for the listed Marvel shows. Notably, What If…? received two full models, though that’s still less than The Mandalorian.

Both properties have new series that have recently started or will begin soon with Moon Knight’s first episode available now and Obi-Wan Kenobi on May 27.
