Marvel’s Eternals actor confirmed for Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel

New casting for the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel may offer an opportunity to reuse part of a LEGO Marvel Eternals minifigure.

According to Deadline and later confirmed officially, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind have all been cast in the upcoming sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The sequel is currently scheduled for release on December 20, 2023, and is said to be returning to New York following the ending scene of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Out of the four reported casted actors, Kumail Najiani has received a LEGO minifigure before thanks to his role as Kingo in Eternals. The character’s head element is only currently featured in 76155 In Arishem’s Shadow and 21337 Table Football

Provided the sequel gets a LEGO set with minifigures unlike the first film’s only model – 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 – it could be an opportunity to reuse this head design for Nanjiani’s character. However, no future LEGO Ghostbusters sets of any kind have been confirmed. The last Ghostbusters minifigures were release in 2016.

10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 is still available with its retirement currently scheduled for 2024 at the time of writing, meaning it should continue to be available for the sequel’s release.
