One change to fit the LEGO X-Mansion in your modular street

The new LEGO 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion can be connected to the modular street, but without one change it won't blend in nearly as well.

As well as being part of the Marvel building collection, 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion is designed to be compatible with the official entries in the LEGO Modular Buildings Collection, but that doesn't mean it will look perfect alongside them.

Solid Brix Studios recently compared the mansion to 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum and 76269 Avengers Tower and while the superhero antics in the set look good next to the Marvel models, it undoubtedly appears to be short next to the LEGO buildings. This is thanks in no small part to the height of its two floors, which is much lower than that of the official modular buildings.

It also sits further back than the modular buildings thanks to the garden area at the front, though this allows space for the Sentinel to battle the X-Men. Resolving one of these issues is easier than the other, though it won't be cheap to modify 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion following its launch next month.

Adding another floor to 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion would not only be more accurate to the building as seen in X-Men: The Animated Series and the follow-up X-Men '97 show, but the added height improves the model's appearance next to the LEGO modular buildings.

Adding another trio of rooms to the mansion would also address one of the community's concerns following the LEGO Marvel set's reveal earlier this week. The concern is that the mansion is too cramped across six rooms (with two occupied by the Danger Room), but a third floor would allow the bedroom to be split into two rooms and add a space for Xavier's office too.

Theoretically, the pieces used on the exterior of the mansion should be available via Pick a Brick though many elements would be needed to make a third floor before you factor in any interior details too. It wouldn't be an inexpensive upgrade but considering the results pictured above, it's one worth considering after the base build releases on November 1 for LEGO Insiders or November 4 widely for £289.99 / $329.99 / €329.99.
