A cinematic universe built brick by brick

Every LEGO film released and rumoured so far – June 2026

The LEGO Group is no stranger to making movies for the big screen, and with Keanu Reeves reportedly starring in a future release, it looks set to continue its cinematic ambitions for years to come.

Deadline, a reliable source within the film industry, recently reported that John Wick star and 'Hollywood’s nicest man' Keanu Reeves is set to appear in a live-action/animation hybrid LEGO film directed by Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley.

The LEGO Group has released several theatrical films over the years and has six reportedly in development. Here is a complete list of LEGO movies to date, along with rumoured future projects.

The LEGO Movie

Release date: February 7, 2014 Production budget: $60 million Global box office: $470.8 million

The LEGO Group kicked off its collaboration with Warner Bros. on the big screen in 2014. A star-studded cast, including Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, and Morgan Freeman, brought to life the story of an ordinary construction worker who becomes the key to stopping a corporate tyrant. The film was both a critical and commercial success, establishing LEGO as a major cinematic brand.

The LEGO Batman Movie

Release date: February 10, 2017 Production budget: $80 million Global box office: $312 million

Fast-tracked after the success of The LEGO Movie and the popularity of Will Arnett’s LEGO Batman, this spin-off follows Batman as he grapples with loneliness and fear of intimacy while facing a roster of iconic villains. It proved another critical and commercial hit for the franchise.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

Release date: September 22, 2017 Production budget: $70 million Global box office: $123.1 million

Released just seven months after The LEGO Batman Movie, this film follows schoolboy Lloyd as he defends Ninjago City from his villainous father, Lord Garmadon. Despite its visual flair and comedic moments, the film struggled at the box office, with audience fatigue and rapid release scheduling cited as contributing factors.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

Release date: February 8, 2019 Production budget: $99 million Global box office: $199.6 million

Picking up five years after the original, the sequel sees Bricksburg transformed into an apocalyptic wasteland caused by constant sibling conflict. While the film retained the charm of its predecessor, it failed to replicate its success, and its underperformance contributed to Warner Bros. eventually allowing its LEGO film rights to lapse, which were later acquired by Universal Pictures.

Piece by Piece

Release date: October 11, 2024 Production budget: $16 million Global box office: $10.7 million

Universal Pictures reimagined the LEGO medium with this hybrid documentary-style film exploring the life and music of Pharrell Williams. Using LEGO animation to visualise his creativity and synesthesia, the film took a more artistic and experimental approach. While it had a modest box office run, it was well received critically and demonstrated the LEGO Group’s potential for more mature storytelling.

In October 2024, Universal Pictures confirmed development of three additional LEGO films. The projects are set to be directed by Joe Cornish (Ant-Man co-writer), Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), and Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle). No plot details have been revealed.

While we await further information on the new LEGO films, there are still plenty of ways to engage with existing LEGO media related to the movies. New LEGO Batman and LEGO Ninjago sets continue to release regularly, keeping both themes firmly in the spotlight.

Right now is also a strong time for collectors, with discounts available across select sets, including Amazon Prime 33% off of 71859 The Dragon of Life and double points promotions on larger LEGO Batman releases such as 76300 Arkham Asylum
