A new movie rumour claims that Keanu Reeves is in negotiations to reunite with director Josh Cooley as the star of a new LEGO film.
This week's rumour mill is starting different to usual, as Deadline claims that their sources have informed them that Keanu Reeves is in negotiations to star in a live-action hybrid LEGO movie directed by Josh Cooley.
The duo previously brought Duke Caboom to life in Toy Story 4, with Keanu lending his voice to the role. Oddly enough, that was also Keanu's first stint in LEGO form, thanks to the 2019 10767 Duke Caboom's Stunt Show set.

Deadline states the studio has been developing several scripts to get this property greenlit. It's claimed that after many attempts with writers and directors, A-lister Keanu Reeves was selected as a big swing, and that the project has been developed around Keanu's character.
As progress was made, it's reported that the studio brought in the Toy Story 4 director to pitch, which led to Keanu's approval to star in the film. This new film appears to be separate from the news of the 'Inner Child' elevated comedy by James Morosini from August 2025.
Universal's movie deal with the LEGO Group has not seen many films so far, and Deadline also states that their sources mentioned if the studio didn’t have a film close to pre-production in the next six months, the LEGO movie rights could lapse and be on the market again.
This new movie is only rumoured for now, and it's worth taking this news with a pinch of salt, though Deadline is consistently reliable in the movie industry. Currently in the works at Universal (as well as the aforementioned elevated comedy) is a live-action NINJAGO movie. The LEGO Group is also working on a live-action LEGO Friends musical special for later this year.
