Should you catch up on your retiring LEGO sets wishlist during the current double points event or wait for Insiders Days in July? It’s a question for the ages…
Double Insiders points – equivalent to 10% cashback to spend on future purchases – are available on absolutely everything at LEGO.com through June 29, including new releases and retiring sets. So it makes sense to snap up any imminently retiring sets on your wishlist now… right? Well, there’s also LEGO Insiders Days to consider.
The LEGO Group hasn’t yet confirmed that Insiders Days will return for 2026, but it’s been a staple in the July calendar for a couple of years now. Last year’s event included double points and quadruple points on selected sets, brand new gifts-with-purchase and discounts on new and retiring sets.
So, does it make more sense to buy right now or stay the course for LEGO Insiders Days? There are a few factors to consider here, so let’s dive in.
Insiders points

Right now, you’re guaranteed double points on everything at LEGO.com. If Insiders Days follows the same pattern as previous years, we’re probably going to see double points on only selected sets – but if the models you’re after are included in that list, then no harm no foul.
Chances are we won’t find out what’s in the Insiders Days 2026 double points list until after the current 2x points promo has ended, however, so it’s a gamble. But there is a high risk, high reward element to the situation too – some sets may have 4x points, equivalent to 20% cashback…
Gifts-with-purchase

The current LEGO gift-with-purchase is 40902 Tribute to Leonardo da Vinci, which is free with all orders above £135 / $150 / €150 until June 28 (the day before the current double points event ends), or while stocks last. If that one’s caught your eye, it makes sense to buy now rather than waiting for Insiders Days.
Odds are pretty much even that the LEGO Group will have a new gift-with-purchase up for grabs for LEGO Insiders Days, though – and if last year’s event is any indication, there may be multiple freebies on the cards. So if da Vinci isn’t doing it for you, best to hold off. Unless…
Stock levels

The real rub here is: what’s left on your wishlist? Dozens of LEGO sets are due to retire by the end of July, but we’re already in the endgame and they’re rapidly selling out at LEGO.com. High-profile casualties in the UK include 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, 75337 AT-TE Walker and 76435 Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall.
Assuming the retiring sets you’re after haven’t already sold out, the biggest gamble in waiting for Insiders Days – beyond the possibility of extra points or better GWPs – is that they’ll disappear before the event gets underway.

And once a LEGO set retires from the official online store, chances of adding it to your collection grow increasingly small. Some third-party retailers may have a little leftover stock, but otherwise you’re at the mercy of the aftermarket, where prices fluctuate wildly.
From our perspective, the safest choice is buying during the current double Insiders points event, which runs until June 29. If you spend at least £135 / $150 / €150 by June 28 you’ll also receive 40902 Tribute to Leonardo da Vinci, which from our hands-on review is one of the better GWPs of 2026 so far.
Then if you’ve got any budget left and want whatever the LEGO Group has in store for Insiders Days in July – assuming the event returns at all – you could always set your sights on new releases to qualify for the gifts-with-purchase.
