A short snippet of the 9,400 hours that went into the latest big build.

Watch the life-size LEGO Technic Koenigsegg get made

The world-record attempt and life-sized LEGO Technic megacar model have been deeply documented in a new video taking us behind the scenes.

In partnership with car content creator Mr JWW, the LEGO Group has released a full behind-the-scenes video of the making of the colossal creation and the attempt to break the world record. This attempt was documented in a press release, which we reported on last week, but the video is much more in-depth.

The footage of the vehicle being made is especially insightful, allowing you to appreciate the hard work that goes into a 1:1 LEGO car. The drivable LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear is made from 327,906 elements, weighs approximately 1,800kg, and took more than 9,400 hours to develop and put together.

“Innovation and extreme performance are at the core of everything we do," said Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO of Koenigsegg.

"To see the Sadair’s Spear recreated not only as a highly detailed 1:8 scale LEGO Technic model, but also as a full-scale, drivable vehicle, is truly remarkable. Our partnership with the LEGO Group demonstrates how a shared passion for engineering and creativity can result in something extraordinary.”
