The LEGO Group and Koenigsegg have marked their latest collaboration by smashing the record for the fastest life-size, drivable LEGO car ever created.
Launching on July 1 is 42232 Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear, a 4,104-piece set that joins the LEGO Technic Ultimate series and continues the biennial line of large-scale performance car models.

To celebrate the launch, the LEGO Group set itself an ambitious challenge: to build and drive the fastest full-size LEGO car ever made. The team succeeded. Using 327,906 LEGO pieces and weighing 1,800kg, the build took more than 9,400 hours to design, engineer, and assemble.
The finished car headed to the Goodwood Estate, the legendary stretch of tarmac best known for hosting the annual Festival of Speed, where historic and modern motorsport vehicles tackle the famous hill climb.
Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO of Koenigsegg, said: “To see the Sadair’s Spear recreated not only as a highly detailed 1:8 scale LEGO Technic model, but also as a full-scale, drivable vehicle, is truly remarkable.”
Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh, who set the hill climb record in the real Sadair’s Spear at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, also took the wheel of the life-size LEGO version – this time running the course in reverse.
The build reached a top speed of 111 km/h, smashing the previous record of 50 km/h and becoming the fastest drivable LEGO car ever produced by the LEGO Group. You can watch it hit that record-breaking number below.
Lundh said: “Getting the chance to take the driver’s seat of this life-size LEGO Technic build was an incredible privilege. It really did feel like I was handling a real Koenigsegg.”
Sadly, the life-size Sadair’s Spear will not be available to the public. However, the 1:8 scale version will be.
42232 Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear launches on July 1 for LEGO Insiders and July 4 for general release, priced at £399.99 / $449.99 / €449.99. Customers who purchase between July 1 and July 6 will also receive the 40894 Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Steering Wheel as a gift-with-purchase, while stocks last.
