What we need from another microscale LEGO Hogwarts Castle

How can the concept of a microscale Hogwarts Castle be improved, or at least be different?

What we need from another microscale LEGO Hogwarts Castle

Rumours of a new LEGO Harry Potter microscale Hogwarts Castle present an opportunity to improve on aspects of 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds.

One of the most recent rumours in the world of LEGO is word of a microscale Hogwarts Castle, despite 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds remaining on shelves until December 2027. The small but mighty depiction of the school is currently slated to retire at the end of 2027, while the newly rumoured model is said to launch later this year.

A second microscale Hogwarts Castle would need to be substantially different, even if it were to be a gift-with-purchase, to stand out. Here are a few ways a second build can be different and even improve on aspects of 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds.

No interior details

As much as we love the interior scenes in 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds, it's hard to imagine a build any smaller having anything substantial enough to be recognised as specific rooms. It's better to leave them out and focus on the exterior architecture and spaces.

In 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds, the interior scenes take up some of the budget for printed parts, too, whereas another take on a microscale Hogwarts Castle would be able to put that budget towards more prints on the exterior, such as the main tower.

More than just Hogwarts, even if it's not entirely accurate

76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds is a shining example of just how sprawling Hogwarts is, and it doesn't quite cover all of the areas in the school. Other areas not present are harder to include and maintain a high level of accuracy, since they are far from the main castle.

That hasn't stopped Brix Dude from envisioning a microscale Hogwarts Castle that includes more than just the castle, even if the locations are squashed. They've included the Forbidden Forest, the Hogsmeade train station and more to cover as many of these locations as possible in a relatively small build.

The Quidditch pitch

One location featured in Brix Dude's build but not covered in 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds would be Hogwarts Castle's Quidditch Pitch. The 30651 Quidditch Practice recruitment bag already offered an idea of what a microscale Quidditch pitch can look like, and all we need is for it to finally be included in a Hogwarts Castle model.

From the many modular Hogwarts Castle builds made up of multiple sets to 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds and even standalone releases, Quidditch has been rarer than expected in LEGO Harry Potter. We can only hope that this rumoured set will give the pitch a chance to shine.

40901 Microscale Hogwarts is still just a rumour for now, and all reported information surrounding it (or what little there is currently) should be taken with caution. In the meantime, 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds is available for £149.99 / $169.99 / €169.99. It qualifies for double points until tomorrow, and a gift-with-purchase until the end of today.
