Three of the LEGO Group's flagship stores in the US and China have revealed a range of exclusive merchandise, the likes of which we haven't seen in years.
Regional exclusives have become incredibly rare in the modern LEGO portfolio. No longer are full waves of models limited to a single country, but they can be acquired anywhere, at least online. While sets will likely remain this widely accessible for the foreseeable future, it looks like things are changing when it comes to LEGO merchandise.
A handful of flagship LEGO stores around the world have started selling store-exclusive merchandise, and it's more than just bags with the store's name printed on them. It's reported by those who have visited these locations that this is a trial run at just a few stores, for now.
Shanghai's offerings, as shared by dylanchow, include a LEGO crab bag charm and another of a heart with the store's name. There's also a range of magnets, a bag, umbrellas, shirts and a capsule perfect for showing off minifigures on the go. The Shanghai flagship also has a new logo, displayed on the items and on the floor.
Bradyjoynerbricks documented the exclusive merchandise available at the New York Fifth Avenue flagship store. There are some similar items here, but with a logo for the New York store instead of that of Shanghai. What is wholly exclusive are the pizza and hot dog bag charms and the New York minifigure display case.
The logo used on the merchandise is the same as that of the store's free LEGO tour, leaving us to wonder if similar tours will also be held in other locations. That's only speculation on our part.
The flagship store at Disneyland Anaheim is another with some exclusive items up for grabs, as shared by datmandalorian. This includes a water bottle, pencil, magnets and similar items from other flagship stores with an Anaheim emblem. Sadly, there are no LEGO Disney bag charms to report, despite the clear opportunity.
Block Party on YouTube has also shared a look at some exclusive items available at the store within the LEGO House. This includes some items based on historic products from the LEGO Group's past.
We have not seen any other reports of exclusive items at flagship stores, but it's absolutely worth keeping an eye out for them the next time you are near one. There are no exclusive sets or minifigures at the time of writing, and it seems unlikely that there will be any.
If you can take a trip as soon as today, don't forget that there's still a chance for some LEGO Insiders Days deals, including a free 40912 Sea Serpent at any stores that still have stock.
