Early reviews of the new LEGO Technic mystery boxes suggest they will be scannable, meaning you can use the Brick Search app to take the surprise out of collecting.
Launching on August 1, 42233 Mighty Machines is a brand new collectible line that brings the blind-box format to LEGO Technic. It isn't replacing the Collectible Minifigures series, which continues with 71053 Shrek in September, but instead runs alongside it as a separate range.
With eight miniature machines to collect, the mystery boxes retail for £4.49 / $4.99 / €4.99 each – slightly more than a standard Collectible Minifigures box. At that price, knowing exactly what's inside becomes even more valuable.
Early reviews suggest the boxes use the same scannable QR codes found on recent Collectible Minifigures packaging. If that's the case, you'll be able to use the Brick Search app once support goes live to scan each box and reveal which model is inside before you buy.
Brick Search members get unlimited scans, making it easier to track down the specific machine you want, whether that's the steamroller, crane or another of the eight collectible builds.
A separate QR code inside each box also links to an online card game, making a complete collection even more rewarding.
