LEGO Ideas takes us from Lisbon rooftops to the Library of Alexandria

Two more fan-designed LEGO submissions have reached the required 10,000 votes and will be reviewed in September for a chance to become official LEGO Ideas sets.

Both are gorgeous, well-designed builds that take two completely different approaches. One is reminiscent of a LEGO Art set, while the other is packed with historical detail.

The total number of submissions in the second LEGO Ideas review of 2026 has now risen to 52, slightly higher than previously reported after one missing submission mysteriously returned to the platform.

Reaching the required milestone yesterday evening was liayaaaa’s Lisbon, Framed. This LEGO Art-inspired project recreates Lisbon’s iconic Miradouro das Portas do Sol viewpoint as a framed wall display.

Inspired by the colourful hillside architecture of the city, the build uses a 48 x 64 brick frame made from plates and tiles to capture the layered houses, rooftops, and warm feeling of sunlight across Lisbon’s landscape.

The design takes inspiration from current LEGO wall art sets such as 31221 Gustav Klimt – The Kiss, with the fan designer sharing that they would love to see more similar builds representing cities from around the world.

The second submission to reach 10,000 votes could be benefiting from a surge in popularity thanks to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which recently arrived in cinemas and is currently dominating the global box office.

Maximus Brickimus’s Ancient Library model would bring a slice of Greek history to LEGO Store shelves – a theme that is not only missing from the current LEGO portfolio but is also enjoying a major pop-culture moment.

The build reimagines the legendary Library of Alexandria and how it may have looked before its destruction. Spread across three baseplates, the model combines Greek, Egyptian, and Mesopotamian influences, with a grand exterior decorated with statues and intricate architectural details.

The proposed set includes eight minifigures, including librarians, scholars, scientists, and workers, bringing the historic centre of learning to life.

Both builds now have the chance to be selected as future LEGO Ideas sets. Here is a recap of all 52 submissions currently in contention when the second LEGO Ideas review of 2026 concludes in September.
