Rivendell, DeLorean and more LEGO Icons sets no longer retiring in 2025

Six LEGO Icons sets originally slated to retire in 2025 will now stay in production until at least the end of 2026, including 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell.

If you haven’t yet been able to justify the money or space required for one of the best LEGO sets around right now (it’s in pole position in Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO sets list for a reason), you’ve now got a little more breathing room to get your hands on the home of the elves. 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell is among six different LEGO Icons sets handed an extra year on shelves, now retiring by December 31, 2026.

Also on that list are 10295 Porsche 911, 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine, 10302 Optimus Prime, 10307 Eiffel Tower and 10315 Tranquil Garden. They’re a varied bunch, ranging from a car that’s been on shelves since 2021 – and has outlasted successors including 10321 Corvette, which retires this year – to the biggest LEGO Icons set released so far.

It takes the total number of LEGO Icons sets retiring in 2026 to 13 as things stand, and leaves just nine heading for the door in 2025. Those still include two modular buildings – 10297 Boutique Hotel and 10312 Jazz Club – and the 90th-anniversary set 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle, but fingers crossed that medieval model at least receives an extension at some point as it absolutely deserves to.

The LEGO Icons sets retiring in 2024 are locked in now, meanwhile, with some having already sold out at LEGO.com in certain regions. Our advice? Make a beeline for 10320 Eldorado Fortress and 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery across LEGO Insiders Weekend, when the latter is rumoured to be on sale for 20% off and multiple gifts-with-purchase and double points will be available to claim.

Check out all the LEGO Icons sets organised by their retirement date below, or head here to browse a complete breakdown of when every current LEGO set is scheduled to retire. 2024 dates aren’t likely to change now, but the LEGO Group could still shuffle around anything beyond the end of this year.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
