You might want to take a closer look at LEGO Duncan Idaho’s hairline

LEGO Icons 10327 Dune Royal Atreides Ornithopter owners, now is the time to double-check your Duncan’s hairline.

A huge selling point for 10327 Dune Royal Atreides Ornithopter is its impressive cast of minifigures, picking out virtually every major character from the first Dune film. That includes the absolute beast that is Duncan Idaho, played on-screen by Jason Momoa. No spoilers for those who haven’t watched the movie or read the book, but he makes a real impact in Dune, despite not having a huge amount of screen time. His minifigure, therefore, has a well-earned place in the LEGO Icons set’s squad.

However, several reports on reddit suggest that Duncan is being done slightly dirty in his minifigure counterpart, with the hairpiece giving him the effect of a receding hairline that’s not apparent in the renders, or indeed in our review of the minifigures. The most obvious example comes from reddit user Astonishdreams on reddit.

The hairpiece in question is not a new one to the LEGO system, having previously been used for Tiana in both her minifigure and minidoll forms. While it might be excused once as the builder perhaps not placing it on correctly, there are more examples of similar circumstances here… and here… and even a bizarre one with a hole in the head here.

The repeated instances of the ill-fitting hairpiece suggest instead that there might have been an issue with a patch of the LEGO parts. Luckily, there’s an easy fix if this issue appears in your own copy of Duncan, as you can request replacement parts directly from the LEGO Group to patch his early-onset baldness for free.

If you haven’t bought a copy of LEGO Icons 10327 Dune Royal Atreides Ornithopter, it’s available to buy now for £149.99 / $164.99 / €164.99, or for 20% off at GAME for those in the UK, bringing the price down to just £120.

Mine has the hole as well, but taking a look at Lego replacement pieces (part Wig no. 69 – 6478066) the hole looks like it’s supposed to be there.

Duncan wears his hair pulled back into a ponytail so this would explain the look rather well and would also discount the receding hairline theory.
