Ten LEGO sets to get double VIP points on

It’s double VIP points weekend at the official LEGO online shop, so Brick Fanatics is picking out the sets that will give fans the best deal

It’s double VIP points time at LEGO.com, with all orders getting the equivalent of 10% ‘LEGO cashback’ instead of the usual 5%. In addition, 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute will be free with orders totalling £150 / $150 and 5006291 2×4 Teal Brick will be free with orders that reach £200 / $200.

To really maximise the extra points, here are 10 sets worth considering…

10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1

Quick! It’s on back order, which means it may well sell out during the VIP weekend. This recent release offers a beautiful, detailed recreation of the classic movie ride. As a brand new set, it’s great to be able to get double points on it and there’s a free poster too – while stocks last.

75290 Mos Eisley Cantina

It’s one of the most recognisable locations in the whole of the Star Wars galaxy, and that’s a place packed with recognisable locations. As the ultimate realisation of the Mos Eisley Cantina, every fan will want the set – and with around £32 back in LEGO VIP points, plus 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute and 5006291 2×4 Teal Brick for free, it’s very tempting.

75978 Diagon Alley

LEGO Harry Potter is delivering across the whole theme, but this recent release is something special. As with other sets on this list, it’s a higher priced box – but that makes it all the better for double VIP points, as it will net around £37 worth this weekend.

10275 Elf Club House

It’s almost December, so it’s time to make sure 10275 Elf Club House is on the way so it can have maximum display time ahead of the big day. Packed with whimsy and charm, it might not be the best Winter Village set yet, but it’s up against some stiff competition and is still packed with festive charm.

76161 1989 Batwing

If you ain’t gonna call the Ghostbusters, another cinematic icon might be your bag. 76161 1989 Batwing only launched a few weeks ago and it’s an incredibly detailed, beautiful display piece inspired by Tim Burton’s Batman movie.

75192 Millennium Falcon

Of course not everyone has £649.99 to spend on 75192 Millennium Falcon right now. But anyone thinking of getting it soon should do so this weekend – those double VIP points work out at around £65 back in ‘LEGO cashback’. It’s the best bargain to be had as, until next weekend, it’s the largest ever LEGO set.

21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay

LEGO Ideas 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay

This has been a strong year for LEGO sets. This LEGO Ideas release is packed with nostalgia, offering dozens of references to the beloved 1980s/1990s theme. What’s more, it offers an unparalelled building experience, packing in an incredible number of techniques. The set qualifies for the free 40410 Charles Dickens as well as double VIP points.

10273 Haunted House

LEGO 10273 Haunted House

There have been many, many excellent sets for adults this year, to the extent that it’s easy to forget some of them. 10273 Haunted House dropped during the summer, and is great fun because as well as long spooky it drops minifigures down its central tower. As well as netting the double LEGO VIP points, it qualifies for both 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute and 5006291 2×4 Teal Brick.

21324 123 Sesame Street

This is a great set that will have a special place in the hearts of those who grew up with the show, but it isn’t the best value LEGO model. With double LEGO VIP points though, it feels a lot more appropriate for the price.

LEGO Art

So you’ve been tempted to buy multiples of LEGO Art sets. Maybe you want that amazing triple Darth Vader in 31200 Star Wars The Sith or a full band with four copies of 31198 The Beatles. With double VIP points, not only is it easier to justify, but it will be easy to qualify for 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute and 5006291 2×4 Teal Brick too.
