Ten-year-old does charity walk as a LEGO minifigure

Ten-year-old Bodi Clark is planning to dress up as a LEGO minifigure and walk a mile a day in the build-up to Christmas to raise money for charity.

Raising funds for The Toy Trust, Bodi will walk one mile every day in between December 1 and 24, complete in a minifigure outfit. In total he will cover a marathon-length distance of 26.2 miles before the end of the month. His advent calendar is all about raising money for the organisation, which provides toys for children with liabilities across the UK.

“There are so many children who aren’t as lucky as me, not just at Christmas, but all through the year,” Bodi told Toy World Mag. “Lots won’t be worrying about what presents they have, but whether they are warm and have food to eat this winter. I’m not a big fan of walking, so thought that completing a marathon-length walk during December would be properly challenging, especially as I would be out in the worst of winter weather, often before school AND dressed as a Lego man!”

The final step of Bodi’s challenge will be on Christmas morning, when he will go for a frosty swim on Gyllyngvase Beach in Cornwall. Throughout Advent, Bodi won’t just be walking across Cornwall, but even be heading all the way across the UK to London. Others are also encouraged to join him at the weekend, with walks being shared in advance via his JustGiving page. You can also donate to the cause at the same link.
