The LEGO Movie 2 gets new title and confirmed release date

The LEGO Movie Sequel has been renamed The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

Emmet and co will return next year in what was known as The LEGO Movie Sequel, but now has the more pun-friendly name The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The animated flick had always been slated for February 2019, but with the quiet disappearance of The Billion Brick Race and release date shenanigans around The LEGO NINJAGO Movie, it is good to see it confirmed.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part also now has a logo, revealed on Twitter:

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of the original 2014 movie, are back in the capacity of producers and screenwriters. Mike Mitchell is in the director’s chair for the film that is produced by Dan Lin. During interviews last year, the creatives behind the project revealed that the new film will deal with how children of different genders play with toys.

The LEGO Movie Sequel will be released on February 8, 2019.
