The LEGO Movie was released nine years ago today

The LEGO Movie is officially nine years old today as the first of the brick-based films released on February 6, 2014, in select regions

Time flies apparently as the LEGO Movie was released in select regions nine years ago today, with regional release dates and anniversaries varying between other times this month. Tomorrow, February 7 is the anniversary of the film’s release in the US and on February 14, it marks nine years since it arrived in the UK.

Featuring a star-studded cast and crossing over various properties including Batman, The Simpsons and many familiar LEGO themes, the LEGO Movie ended up being the first of many films with an instalment for Batman, one for NINJAGO and a musical sequel to the original LEGO Movie too. Some LEGOLAND parks even have a themed land dedicated to the franchise/

There was another film planned named The Billion Brick Race too, but it was unfortunately cancelled. Today, the future of LEGO Movies is unclear, though there is a future at the time of writing.
