Third live action Star Wars series in development for Disney+

Following The Mandalorian and the untitled Cassian Andor series, a third live action Star Wars series will be released on Disney+.

Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, has confirmed that a third Star Wars live action series will be released on Disney+ before the end of 2022, Slash Film reports. Disney+ is the new streaming service from the company that will launch The Mandalorian later this year.

At the MoffetNathanson Media & Communications summit, Iger talked about the recent news that there will be a three year gap between the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the next film from the franchise, that will arrive in 2022:

“In the interim, we are producing two live-action Star Wars series for Disney+. One of them is called The Mandalorian, which is being supervised by Jon Favreau, and the other one is a bit of a prequel to Rogue One. My guess is there will probably be one more, at least one more, live-action series that we produce for Disney+, meaning a Star Wars series, before we release the next film.”

With the entire galaxy far, far away to choose from, any subject matter is up for grabs. Based on the glimpse at The Mandalorian that was recently provided at Star Wars Celebration Chicago, the streaming series will be exploring new types of story in the Star Wars universe – which means lots of different possibilities for LEGO sets.
