$10,000 of LEGO stolen from Washington fan-run LEGO store

A local fan-run LEGO shop in Washington has had approximately $10,000 worth of sets stolen this week, as they search for their stock online.

Sasquatch Bricks in University Place, Washington confirmed on Facebook last week that $10,000 worth of stock was stolen overnight by thieves in a U-Haul Truck and KING 5 Seattle has shared a video of the robbery taken from an apartment to their YouTube channel, via the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The valuable stock includes several retired and massive LEGO models, which are likely to fetch a high price to collectors on the secondary marketplace, not that they’ll know they’re purchasing stolen goods.

The local store has since put together an approximate list of stolen stock, asking fans to be on the lookout for their stolen goods online and in other local fan-run shops, asking them to reach out to the Pierce County sheriff if there are any leads.

The stolen sets include 10297 Boutique Hotel, 75192 Millennium Falcon, 76191 Infinity Gauntlet as well as several valuable retired sets from 70620 NINJAGO City to 71040 Disney Castle.

This is unfortunately the latest in the surprisingly lengthy history of LEGO robberies worldwide, including the recovery of over $200,000 of LEGO sets from suspected thieves in Oregon last July. Earlier this year, a pair of alleged LEGO thieves were arrested by local police for handling stolen goods.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

$10,000 worth!? Ouch. So what’s that equal to, 3 sets?
