14k gold LEGO BIONICLE mask appears for $33,000

A 14k gold LEGO BIONICLE mask has surprisingly surfaced on the Goodwill shopping website, but don’t expect to be able to afford it.

With bidding starting at a staggering $33,002, a gold LEGO BIONICLE Hau mask has appeared on Shopgoodwill in what must be an incredibly collectable and ultimately expensive item. It comes in a box emblazoned with the LEGO Group’s logo that was in use from 1973 to 1998 before BIONICLE began.

This appears to be an official item as similar 14k gold Hau masks have been discovered in recent years. It’s likely that this was some kind of gift for employees to celebrate the launch of LEGO BIONICLE.

These kinds of masks are more common than you would think as six more were made for the theme’s relatively recent reboot.

Provided you can cough up at least $33,002, you might want to be quick to bid on this mask as the collectable item already has 46 bids at the time of writing. The auction ends in just over 10 hours from the time of writing too. Why someone would offer such a collectable and expensive item to Goodwill instead of auctioning it themselves is another question, though that might be to the benefit of collectors.

Those who don’t quite have $33,000 to spare can take note of the many new and upcoming LEGO sets available to pick up and pre-order now instead.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
