LEGO NINJAGO and Monkie Kid co-creator Simon Lucas has climbed aboard the good ship LEGO City for 2023, and under his supervision the range already looks pretty different from what’s come before. We’ve still got the usual mix of fire, police and emergency services sets and vehicles, but it’s within those trademarks of the theme that the difference can be most clearly felt.

Take, for instance, 60372 Police Training Academy: a set that leans into game shows like Total Wipeout for inspiration, and in the process looks to fashion something entirely new from the embers of LEGO City sets we’ve seen countless times before. It still offers kids the same roleplaying opportunities within their own city, wielding the strong arm of the LEGO law, but also isn’t just another police station.
Beyond those staples – and there are still some hallmarks, like 60374 Fire Command Truck – 2023’s first batch of LEGO City sets expand into new and interesting arenas with products like 60388 Gaming Tournament Truck, 60384 Penguin Slushy Van and 60389 Custom Car Garage.
There are also plenty of animals available to introduce a little wildlife into your city, most notably in the pocket money-priced 60394 ATV and Otter Habitat and 60382 Vet Van Rescue. You’ll find all 21 new sets in the table below.
