$300 LEGO The Kiss rumoured for 2026

A new contender for the most golden LEGO set of all time enters the ring

$300 LEGO The Kiss rumoured for 2026

LEGO Art’s next brick-built recreation of a historic masterpiece is said to focus on Austrian Symbolist painter Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss.

According to BrickTap, 31221 The Kiss will debut on August 1, 2026 for $300, comprised of 4,000 pieces. Whether that’s an exact number isn’t really clear at this stage, but either way it would outstrip the current biggest LEGO Art set of 2026, 31220 Claude Monet – Bridge over a Pond of Water Lillies, which comes in at 3,179 pieces.

Gustav Klimt painted The Kiss sometime around 1907 or 1908, during what’s known as his ‘golden period’, using oils and gold leaf. The real painting can be found in Vienna’s Österreichische Galerie Belvedere museum, and is widely considered the artist’s most iconic work.

Gustav Klimt The Kiss

Encompassing themes of love and intimacy, the image depicts a couple embracing against a gold backdrop, wearing robes decorated with patterns influenced by the Art Nouveau style. And given the colours used, it’s not difficult to imagine that 31221 The Kiss could end up taking the crown for the LEGO set with the most gold elements.

The record for the most gold pieces in a single LEGO set (between both pearl gold and drum-lacquered gold) is currently held by 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy, which is comprised of 2,842 pieces total.

There’s certainly scope for The Kiss to smash that record – but it all depends first and foremost on whether this rumour is true at all. For now, take it with a grain of salt.
