LEGO BrickHeadz 40542 FC Barcelona Go Brick Me is the second set of its kind

LEGO BrickHeadz will expand later this year with an FC Barcelona model, but using a concept that we’ve seen once before under the same name.

40542 FC Barcelona Go Brick Me was announced at LEGO CON as the latest BrickHeadz build. You might recognise the latter half of its name from 2018’s 41597 Go Brick Me. In the four years since that initial model, no other sets used the Go Brick Me label, suggesting that it was just a one-off.

However, the branding has returned in 40542 FC Barcelona Go Brick Me, reflecting the option to personalise the caricature wearing the FC Barcelona kit. The customisation matches what we saw in 41597 Go Brick Me but the numbers on the back of the FC Barcelona shirt in place of the various accessories and stickers used to design the outfit in the 2018 set.

That suggests that Go Brick Me could be the branding applied to all future customisable BrickHeadz, though that concept has expanded to two more models since 2018. Both 40383 Wedding Bride and 40384 Wedding Groom allowed you to personalise the face, skin, hair and outfit colour of the bride and groom.

Neither of those sets featured Go Brick Me in the set name, though perhaps a more suitable name reflecting the new title in 40542 FC Barcelona Go Brick Me could have been 40383 Wedding Bride Go Brick Me and 40384 Wedding Groom Go Brick Me.

Whether more LEGO BrickHeadz sets could release with the customisable Go Brick Me branding in future has not been confirmed, though you can at least expect 40542 FC Barcelona Go Brick Me to be released on August 1, 2022, for £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99, including the figure, enough elements to personalise it, two sticker sheets and a goal.
