LEGO Creator 40651 Australia Postcard’s design might be a reference

LEGO Creator 40651 Australia Postcard’s design has been criticised since its reveal though its odd design might be due to an Easter egg.

Rather than representing a specific city like the other four LEGO Creator postcards, 40651 Australia recreates a general overview of the outback including a shack, outhouse, windmill, a cockatoo and a plane flying overhead.

This decision hasn’t gone down well with everyone as some Reddit users have had some specific comments regarding the model. However, the selection of builds on the postcard align with another official outback model.

LEGO Town’s 6444 Outback Airstrip from 1997 has a similar selection of models and it could be that the design of 40651 Australia Postcard is at least partially referencing this classic creation, switching out the grey bird for a cockatoo instead.

Still, 40651 Australia Postcard is the only LEGO postcard so far to depict an entire country rather than a city and you can pick it up starting January 1, 2023, for £13.49 / $14.99 / €14.99 on LEGO.com and in LEGO stores.
