The designer video for 71799 NINJAGO City Markets is out months after release, confirming that the model is designed around one minifigure.
71799 NINJAGO City Markets, the latest in the range of modular multi-tiered NINJAGO City sets, has received its accompanying designer video. Model designer Markus Rollbühler and graphic designer Angel Grau Bullón have been tasked with taking us through the huge model and pointing out interesting details spotted previously.
The goat poster is confirmed to be a reference to the retired 7189 Mill Village Raid and the ongoing demand for more LEGO goats, not that it could have been referencing much else. The amount of exclusive minifigures in 71799 NINJAGO City Markets is also detailed with the designer duo providing a guide to the new minifigures for those unfamiliar with LEGO NINJAGO.
However, the process of developing the cable car and the reason behind its inclusion is one of the most interesting talking points.
“When I was thinking about how to follow up 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens, I loved the idea of including Cyrus Borg – a fan-favourite character that is confined to a wheelchair – therefore making it very difficult for him to traverse NINJAGO City,” explained Markus.
“The cool idea I had was by using a cable car to allow him to go from the bottom floor to the top floor. The Cable car too 12 or 13 tries to get right because everything else was designed around it.”
A lift is included in the 70620 NINJAGO City, the first NINJAGO City set, but more options are always good for Cyrus Borg and other minifigures. It’s interesting to hear that the biggest LEGO NINJAGO set’s main feature, and consequently, the rest of the model is designed around Cyrus Borg.
71799 NINJAGO City Markets is available now for £319.99 / $369.99 / €369.99 and our review is available to read by clicking here.
