90th-anniversary LEGO set alternate builds revealed

To celebrate the 90th anniversary, instructions for six new alternate builds for sets from LEGO NINJAGO, Friends and CITY have been released.

As part of the 90th anniversary campaign, the official online LEGO store has been updated with six free alternate builds using three sets from NINJAGO, CITY and Friends. The models you’ll need for these builds are 41703 Friendship Tree House, 60320 Fire Station and 71766 Lloyd’s Legendary Dragon, all of which are available now on the official online store.

Unlike the collection of alternate builds that are currently available on the VIP rewards centre, these builds are accessible by everyone, at least at the time of writing. Each of the three sets has two alternate models for a total of six creations, most of which are relatively simple builds with a younger audience in mind.

60320 Fire Station has options for a fish tank and rocket using some of its 540 included elements. 41703 Friendship Tree House can be rebuilt into another treehouse with a windmill and a slide or a robot emblazoned with bees. Rounding out the selection is 71766 Lloyd’s Legendary Dragon with a comparatively small frog and dragon boat.

The 90th-anniversary campaign, which aims to inspire kids and kids at heart to make the world their playground was announced at LEGO CON 2022 and these alternate instructions serve to remind us of what possibilities the models in our collections hold beyond the provided instructions.

The campaign will also be joined by a range of new LEGO sets soon including 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle and 10497 Galaxy Explorer as well as the already-released 11021 90 Years of Play.
