This is what a complete collection of LEGO Ideas sets looks like in 2021

Ever wondered what a complete collection of LEGO Ideas sets looks like lined up on a shelf? One superfan of the theme has the answer.

Twitter user lego_Ideasfan_99 shared an image of their incredible collection of LEGO Ideas sets, which spans every model ever released in the theme, from 2011’s 21100 Shinkai 6500 Submarine – back when Ideas was known as CUUSOO – through this year’s 21328 Seinfeld and 40487 Sailboat Adventure.

That includes (deep breath): 21100 Shinkai 6500 Submarine, 21101 Hayabusa, 21102 Minecraft Micro World: The Forest, 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine, 21104 NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover, 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1, 21109 Exo Suit, 21110 Research Institute, 21301 Birds, 21302 The Big Bang Theory, 21303 Wall-E, 21304 Doctor Who, 21305 Maze, 21306 The Beatles Yellow Submarine, 21307 Caterham Seven 620R, 21308 Adventure Time, 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V, 21310 Old Fishing Store, 21311 Voltron, 21312 Women of NASA, 21313 Ship in a Bottle, 21314 TRON: Legacy, 21315 Pop-Up Book, 21316 The Flintstones, 21317 Steamboat Willie, 21318 Tree House, 21319 Central Perk, 21320 Dinosaur Fossils, 40335 Space Rocket Ride, 21321 International Space Station, 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay, 21323 Grand Piano, 21324 123 Sesame Street, 40448 Vintage Car, 21325 Medieval Blacksmith, 21326 Winnie the Pooh, 21327 Typewriter, 21328 Seinfeld and 40487 Sailboat Adventure. (Phew.)

We’ve written that list out not to give you a brain haemorrhage while attempting to parse it, but to illustrate just how much dedication has gone into acquiring the entire LEGO Ideas range. These sets span so many different interests, licences and types of product that it’s almost unreasonable to assume someone would find them all appealing – but this collector has acquired them all anyway.

There are some valuable sets in the mix there, too. Some of the earliest CUUSOO models fetch top dollar on the aftermarket, with 21100 Shinkai 6500 Submarine commanding upwards of £600 on BrickLink for a mint-in-sealed-box copy. That’s really what makes acquiring the entire Ideas range so tricky in 2021, and why seeing a full collection like this is so impressive.

If you’re yet to dive into the pool of designs based on fan concepts, plenty of recent LEGO Ideas sets are still available at LEGO.com, including 21325 Medieval Blacksmith and 21328 Seinfeld. Orders of £200 / $200 / €200 at the moment will also qualify for a LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase, 40487 Sailboat Adventure.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
