Adult LEGO tables are the investment you never knew you needed

Building LEGO sets might make you feel like you’re young at heart, but your back and neck might have other ideas – until now.

If you’re anything like the Brick Fanatics team, you’ve probably been building LEGO sets most of your life (we don’t need to include any Dark Ages). When you were young, you could probably hunch over a coffee table or an open LEGO box without worrying about needing to uncreak those knees or crick your back later on – but that doesn’t last forever.

Investing in a proper adult LEGO table can be a game-changer, especially for lengthy builds. We’ve picked out a few of the best options that will not only make LEGO building easier, but save you a few days’ worth of achy backs and necks.

Adult LEGO tables for the sofa

If you prefer to build on the sofa or in bed, having a foldaway adult LEGO table is the way to go. The collapsible legs on these jigsaw boards mean they can also be easily stowed away when not in use, as well as featuring sliding drawers for spare pieces if you need a break mid-build.

We particularly like Ruication’s option, with a film that can fit over the top of an ongoing build. This would be especially handy for any mosaic or relatively flat builds, or for sorting LEGO pieces in the early stages of a build. Plus, it’s currently on offer from £55.99 down to just £49.99. There’s also a similar version from Becko that’s slightly more expensive at £59.99, but does offer more flexibility in angles for those who are picky about their posture.

Standalone adult LEGO tables

Admittedly, those space-saving lap tray options aren’t going to do you much good if you’re embarking on a larger build, like a modular building or bigger. For that, you’ll need to bring out the big guns.

Tektalk offers various tables geared towards jigsaws, but they can be easily repurposed for LEGO fans. The first is a fairly straightforward but cost-effective table on wheels, with a smooth surface that can be easily angled to suit your pose, perfect for larger builds. The second is around £25 more of an investment, but offers a lot more, with drawers for LEGO pieces, stands for instruction booklets, and storage for boxes underneath – and still all for £119.95 right now.

For a more traditional LEGO table set-up, complete with a base that’s compatible with LEGO bricks, this table from Xalerieo offers a better space for in-progress builds, with a removable section that allows you to hide away models while you’re still working on them. At only 45cm high, you might need to invest in some comfy floor cushions, but it’ll still be a better option than your average coffee table.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.

Think I might just use my table and not buy a table to build it on

Boardgame tables are worth a look as well, but don’t come cheap

Oh, I knew I needed a “puzzle table” for LEGO building … I just didn’t know I could get one on a wheeled frame. Time to revise that wish.
