An upcoming Spider-Man movie has 240 characters
The animated sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will reportedly star over 200 characters, presenting some interesting possibilities for future LEGO Marvel sets.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was an unexpected delight in the landscape of superhero movies. Launching in 2018, the animated movie focussed on Miles Morales – a new heir to the Spider-Man mantle. However, he was joined by several other versions of the character including Peter-Parker, Gwen Stacy and even the porcine Spider-Ham.
The film went on to win an Academy Award, and two sequels have been confirmed for release. In a new story from The AV Club, we’ve learned just how expansive the first of these sequels is going to be.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will take place in six different universes and feature 240 different characters. In addition to familiar characters like Spider-Man 2099, we’re reportedly getting a Vulture inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Jessica Drew (who typically fights crime as Spider-Woman) will also be making an appearance. There’s no word on whether more unusual Spider-people (like Spider-Ma’am or Spiders-Man) will be popping up as well, but we live in hope.
While Into the Spider-Verse didn’t earn any direct tie-ins, characters like Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir did appear in LEGO form following its release. Mile Morales himself has also enjoyed a few appearances in LEGO sets over the years. With the LEGO Marvel theme continually popular – and a large number of Spider-Man sets releasing over the years – it’s to be hoped at least a few new Spider-Man characters will trickle down to the LEGO lineup.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will hopefully debut in cinemas in 2023. The threequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for a 2024 release.
