Wake up, another LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 identification method just dropped

The latest accessory you’ll need to find the LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 minifigures you want is a torch.

Now that LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 is out in the wild of LEGO stores and third-party retailers around the world, intrepid collectors are working out still more ways to identify your desired minifigure within the new blind cardboard packaging. While some methods had popped up ahead of the Collectible Minifigure’s release on September 1, there’s no accurate way to test them until they drop into shops.

For example, Reddit user u/x4vhyr shared their method that, while time-consuming, proved successful for them. By shining a light into the corner gap in one of the boxes, they could identify unique printing or characterising colours for each character. Although it did take them a good three hours to find a full set for themselves, it proved to be a foolproof method for one person at least.

“Using the flashlight from my phone, I pressed it against and shined it through one of the bottom corner holes and looked through the corresponding top corner to see the unique pieces or printing and prominent colours of each minifigure,” they wrote on Reddit. “Move the light around and shake the boxes to shift the pieces.”

This person was in a LEGO Store in Paris and said that, while some of the employees were ‘intrigued’, no one challenged his method.

“When they walked by, they either gave a huge smile or wished me luck and the ones that came over to refill the racks would have a chat about the package change, the characters or anecdotes from the first day,” they described.
