Another LEGO Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 25th anniversary set rumoured for 2024

Rumours of another LEGO Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 25th anniversary set for 2024 are circling online, pointing to a four-pack of characters from the first prequel movie.

This year marks the quarter-centennial of both The Phantom Menace arriving in cinemas and the LEGO Star Wars theme as a whole, and the LEGO Group is said to be celebrating both occasions across its product line from a galaxy far, far away. Previous reports have suggested that will happen through sets including 75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama and 75381 Droideka, both of which would presumably be anchored to the 1999 film.

That list of rumoured Phantom Menace sets now extends to one of the two LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz sets thought to be on the cards for 2024. Instagram user exabrickslegogo_ claims that 40676 will be based on The Phantom Menace and is likely to include four different characters, aping the approach of last year’s Return of the Jedi 40th anniversary BrickHeadz set 40623 Battle of Endor Heroes.

Exactly which characters might be included in the four-pack has yet to be revealed, but there are plenty of candidates for interesting statuettes. Qui-Gon Jinn, Darth Maul, Queen Amidala and Jar Jar Binks feel like obvious choices for unique builds, for example – but Obi-Wan Kenobi and young Anakin Skywalker would be far plainer, so fingers crossed the LEGO Group steers clear of those.

We’ll find out for sure later this year, as the model is said to debut in time for May the 4th. That’s if 40676 really is a quartet of Phantom Menace characters, which at this stage is still just a rumour – so take it with the requisite pinch of salt for now.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
