Apology build for cancelled LEGO BrickLink Series 4 orders revealed

Those who had their LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 4 orders cancelled at the last minute should have a consolation build coming soon.

The LEGO Group cancelled some BrickLink Designer Program Series 4 orders just as sets started to ship earlier this month, with many fans confused and upset, considering the limited-edition nature of the BrickLink Designer Program builds. While there isn’t likely to be any plan to send out the ordered sets, with the BrickLink Designer Program now moving on to Series 5, there should be a consolation model arriving with fans soon.

Misunderstoodemo on Reddit is one such fan affected by the sudden cancellations and has shared with the community that they received a special version of 5009260 BrickLink 25th Anniversary Giveaway in the post.

The model is extremely rare and has been given away at some events. This is a unique version of the build as well, accompanied by a card apologising for the order cancellation, and hoping that the parrot build will help to make things right.

While it’s not quite the model they originally ordered, the good news for Misunderstoodemo is that listings for this build on BrickLink are at least $225 at the time of writing, or they can keep this rare piece of LEGO history in their collection.

Whether one of these parrots (or something similar) will be making their way to any fan with a cancelled LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 4 order in the coming days and weeks is unknown, or it may be something reserved for those with larger purchases. Some fans immediately after the cancellations reported receiving token gestures from customer support, such as $25 or $50 in Insiders points

Hopefully, this will inspire the LEGO Group and BrickLink teams to manage stock more carefully moving forward to meet demand properly, with many more series of the program to come. Head here to check out what’s next for the BrickLink Designer Program.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
