Batman’s signature colours made extra trouble for LEGO Batcave – Shadow Box designers
In a new designer video for LEGO DC 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box, the Caped Crusader’s signature colours posed an extra challenge for the LEGO Group.
Two LEGO designers who worked on 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box, Bjarke Lykke Maden and Daniel Lundin, feature in a video from the LEGO Group, discussing the many interactive features of the set and their own personal favourite elements of the set. While Bjarke particularly loves the creative and artistic approach to the iconic lair, he does say that the use of so much of Batman’s favoured black and the dark grey used to reflect the shadowy rocks of the cave itself added an extra challenge to the development of the set.

“The challenge with the colour, when you have so much black and dark grey, is that it can be difficult in the building instructions to distinguish the pieces,” said Bjarke. “We solved that by putting an outline in each step in the building instructions to emphasise which piece you’re supposed to put on in that step.”
Although this outline around the LEGO elements is nothing new, it’s certainly a necessary one. We pointed out in our review that we found finding all the right elements a tricky task – but one that didn’t impact how much we enjoyed the build process for such a unique set.
