Bought any LEGO Series 25 minifigures in the US? Let us know
We can now confirm the Brick Search minifigure scanner works for the Mexico-produced Series 25 boxes with the larger data matrix code on the bottom found in North America.
Thanks to everyone who tested the minifigure scanner and got in touch to let us know it works.
You can read on to find out how the Brick Search Series 25 minifigure scanner can identify which minifigure is inside which box, or download Brick Search for iOS here and Android here and start right away.
Good luck on your minifigure search!
(Updated January 11)
If you’re based in the US and have bought any LEGO Series 25 minifigures, let us know – your help could make finding specific characters easier than ever before.
71045 Series 25 debuted in LEGO Stores and at third-party retailers on January 1, introducing 12 new characters to the collection (and more importantly, a brand new goat). Tracking down each of the dozen new minifigures wasn’t easy at first – they are once again packaged in cardboard boxes, making for a truly blind purchase – but a code found on the bottom of certain boxes has unlocked a new way to identify their contents.
The Brick Search app came up with a way to scan this code and find out in seconds what’s inside each box. They’ve been able to test it on boxes produced for the UK and EU and it works – see the screen recording of the app in action below – but the codes on the boxes produced for North America are different.
So if you’re in North America and have one or more 71045 Series 25 minifigures to hand (including their boxes), you can download Brick Search (here for iOS and here for Android) and try it out yourself. It’ll only take a minute or two to scan all 12 minifigure boxes – you just need to make sure your box has the larger of the two data matrix codes on it, as per the image below.
It’s a very small thing that won’t take up a bunch of your time, and you’ll be helping out the entire LEGO community in doing so. Think of it as an act of public service, except the public here is LEGO fans hoping to grab a pet goat rather than a pet groomer. If you try it and it works, please let [email protected] know – he worries about these things.
Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to assist.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
I only have small matrix codes on a six-pack I ordered from Lego (North America). I’m happy to supply pics of codes and the matching contents if it helps improve the app.
I was able to scan Vampire Knight, Goatherd & Barbarian correctly in the US matching the codes for the Mexico Factory.
I picked up a half a case in Houston, TX. it was the bottom half that was undisturbed, but this was processed just before I knew about the codes! Anyway, my case contained 6 different minifigures organized in groups of 3 which included the Train Fan, Barbarian, Fitness Instructor, Harpy, Mishroom Sprite, and Goatherd. hope this helps anyone!
I’ve only been able to find the small data code in TN. Found some at Target and same at the Lego Store.
Thanks for letting us know!
I bought 3 from a Walmart in New Jersey. 2 of them had the small QR codes. I scanned the larger QR code box and the contents matched the list that was put up – the harpy 6471963
There were some of the large code boxes at my Walmart in Missouri. They worked for the codes you provided. I picked up 2 afghan dogs and the train boy. Only 1/3 of the boxes had the large codes and there was just one case for sale.
Apparently up to now there are 2 known versions for EU (CZ) factory and 1 for US (MX). From what I read the first one was only found in Denmark but still had the S (CZ) plant code. I had the codes from the middle.

I bought a box of 6 from the lego website and it arrived with the small code squares so I was not about to try. My box of 6 had the harpy, warrior/barbarian, dog groomer, mushroom girl, detective, and the gamer girl.
Thanks for letting us know!
Picked up single boxes (10) from local Lego shop and a multi-pack (6) from Lego online. Local Target & Walmart stores not yet stocking Series 25 (SoCal). None of the boxes had the large data matrix code; only small. Important: For duplicates, printed information from box to box was not consistent. Moderate success (70%) using the weight guide; some weights are very similar. Still missing Gamer Girl, Triceratops, and Groomer. Boxes seem to be skewed to favor Mushroom, Train & Barbarian.
