BrickLink clarifies LEGO Insiders terms and conditions update
The BrickLink team has clarified their LEGO Insiders terms and conditions update, which still aims to discourage commercial resale activities.
Over one month ago, it was announced that the LEGO Insiders terms and conditions had been updated to make BrickLink sellers ineligible for accounts and reward points. This was speculated to be to stop BrickLink sellers from using their personal LEGO Insiders account and the points earned for commercial reasons.
In an email sent out to BrickLink members yesterday, what exactly this means has now been clarified, following a deluge of questions being raised by the community. The team states that having a BrickLink store doesn’t automatically affect your LEGO Insiders membership, despite the wording of the original terms and conditions update.
You are free to use the same LEGO account for both your BrickLink and your personal LEGO Insiders membership to earn and redeem points. Existing points aren’t at risk if you operate a BrickLink store. However, repeated patterns of large-scale use in support of commercial resale activities are discouraged. Violations will be handled on a case-by-case basis, though the email states that there have been no reports of accounts on BrickLink misusing this benefit.
For those concerned about having multiple accounts, the team is working internally to adjust the terms and conditions to support the needs of users on BrickLink.?There is no action needed for now.
The goal of this update is primarily to ensure that the benefits of LEGO Insiders are being used for personal reasons, rather than for a business, but fans are welcome to reach out if they have any other concerns.
