A season of muddled side quests comes to a relative head in The Spies, as multiple Mandalorian factions band together to find the Great Forge on Mandalore. But awaiting them is the escaped Moff Gideon, empowered by a squad of upgraded Dark Troopers, who crunches the Mandos under his own Beskar-armoured boot (metaphorically, but almost literally).

The crowning moment of Chapter 23, however, involves the mighty Paz Vizsla staying behind to single-handedly take down the Dark Troopers while his fellow Mandos make a speedy getaway. He actually does manage to best the also-Beskar-armoured soldiers, too – only for a trio of Praetorian Guards (remember those guys?) to finish the job.

It’s a brutal moment that sees the grisly end of one of The Mandalorian’s most iconic characters, perfectly setting up the season finale this week. If you’re itching for more Mando in the meantime, hachiroku24 has already put together an incredible build based on the climactic scenes of Chapter 23. Most of the necessary minifigures already exist, but he’s had to take some creative licence with the Dark Troopers, repurposing First Order Stormtrooper elements.

The build otherwise recreates the Great Forge in LEGO Star Wars Diorama format, on the same black base as sets like 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama and 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama, in mostly light and dark grey – which allows the bright red and sand blue armour of the Praetorian Guards and Paz Vizsla to really pop against the monochromatic backdrop.

If you want to have a go at recreating this scene for yourself, you’re going to need to turn to the aftermarket for the minifigures now: Paz Vizsla was originally available in 75319 The Armorer’s Mandalorian Forge, which left shelves in 2022, while the Praetorian Guards were released alongside The Last Jedi in 2017 and 2018.

The final episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 airs on Disney+ on April 19, 2023. Check out more things Mando over at our sister site Jedinet.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
